Christmas and New Year

Over the years we have loved turning La Touche into a Christmas Wonderland and giving our kids a magical Christmas – our kids are way too old these days to appreciate it and Simon and I needed a good excuse to carry on decorating the place and creating memories…. what better an excuse than to do it all for our guests, so we are really happy to now open Christmas and New Year.

What to expect...

At Christmas time we like to make it special, but also we like to keep some time back for our family too, so here is what you can expect:

Exterior sparkly lights and christmas decorations

Big pool heated to 30 degrees and open 9-9pm

Christmas decorations and real christmas trees in each gite.

Heating in all gites.

Mulled wine arrival drink.

Bar is available, but is an honesty bar.

*Christmas bird delivery service (not cooked) – A farm reared bird (choose from Capon,  Guinea Fowl, Turkey or Goose) with stuffing (savoury or sweet) delivered in time for Christmas Eve/Day.

*Christmas Eve or New Years Eve Fruit de Mer service.

Concierge service for booking restaurants, events and day trip ideas.

What we don’t do:

Food other than stated above.

Bar service (honesty bar only).

Little pool is closed (too cold to keep it heated sufficiently).

Where to go...

Visit Dinan, the medieval City enclosed by walls, walk the cobble streets, send a letter to Father Christmas at the special post box, explore the Christmas Market, eat Cheese fondues and Tartiflettes overlooking the river.

“Peche a Pied” – the french tradition of crabbing – crawl the local coastline for mussels, oysters, crabs etc.

St Malo is an amazing city, walk the ramparts and explore the boutiques (Lesley knows some amazing vintage shops), visit the traditional market, skate at the outdoor ice rink, visit the tall ships and enjoy all the sparkly lights and christmas decorations.

Lamballe, our nearest town has amazing Christmas lights, shops and you can also visit the National Stud for Breton Horses.  Horsedrawn carts and horse shows are put on over Christmas.

Mont St Michel – A much quieter time to visit this UNESCO World Heritage site but it is worth it at Christmas.  During the cold Winter nights, the streets are decorated with lights, and a Christmas tree adorns every corner.  It is a truly magical place.

Rennes, the capital of Brittany and France’s 10th largest City. Apart from amazing shops like Hermes and Chanel, there are much more affordable things to do and see – there is a large Christmas market and a big Christmas fairground.

Walks – Enjoy the ‘Grand sites touristiques’ of Cap Frehel and Car d’Erquy where amazing walks and views await.

Christmas day and New Years day dip – join the big dip in the sea on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.  Fun, but cold – we may just watch this event but plenty of others do not and every year there seems to be more and more people taking part.
